In contrast to the collections of many other Dutch companies, the works of art in the NOG Collection are not on view in the company’s own offices. The collection has no fixed abode and is therefore not dependent on physical conditions. The works must create their own identity in whatever surroundings they are placed in.
The NOG Collection is therefore ‘homeless’, which means that the collection is not used to beautify the company’s own premises, but is loaned to museums and cultural institutions or organisations that display an affinity with art. By these means the works of art are accessible to a broad section of the public.
The collection, comprising sculpture, paintings, drawings and works on paper, totals over 400 works of art by ninety different artists. Some 150 works are at present on loan in divers locations in the Netherlands.
