The company’s dynamic policy over the last thirty years has resulted in a broad collection reflecting Dutch art throughout the years. Since 1995, the company has focussed on a broader concentration in its acquisition policy: which artists who ought to be included are missing from the collection, and of which artists should KPN acquire new material in order to gain a full representation of their oeuvre.
The KPN collection now holds some 7,600 works by international artists from a variety of disciplines, both autonomous and applied. It includes work of six generations of Dutch artists, most of whom have been followed throughout their artistic development. From 1995 onwards, the scope of KPN’s policy with regard to new acquisitions was widened to include photography and new media. Moreover, as KPN’s international importance grew, more international work was purchased.
