Collection

On top of some 5,000 paintings, works on paper and photographs, the AMC collection consists of a large number of monumental objects. It contains works by Karel Appel, Armando, Eugène Brands, Constant, Elspeth Diederix, Marlene Dumas, Ger van Elk, Germaine Kruip Piet Ouborg, Schoonhoven, Peer Veneman, Roy Villevoye, Robert Zandvliet and many other artists.
For the most part, the collection is displayed in the AMC's public spaces, covering a total of 90 km of hallways and plazas. The works are grouped according to style or movement wherever possible. The AMC Art Department is responsible for maintaining and expanding the art collection.
To mark the annual medical public lecture 'The Anatomical Lesson', each year a different artist is commissioned to create a limited-edition print on the topic of 'The Human Shape'. Additionally, each year an artist is asked to design the AMC Christmas card.
